Preparing to compare auto and home insurance quotes

A checklist of documents and details that make quotes accurate the first time.

For auto quotes

  • Current declarations page with limits and deductibles.
  • Driver's license numbers and dates of birth for all drivers.
  • Vehicle identification numbers (VINs) and approximate annual mileage.
  • Dates of any accidents, tickets or claims in the last several years.

For home quotes

  • Current homeowners declarations page.
  • Year built, square footage and construction type.
  • Roof age and material; updates to electrical, plumbing and heating.
  • Safety features: alarms, smoke detectors, deadbolts, sprinklers.
  • Any claims in the last five years.

Bundling

Many insurers discount policies when you buy auto and home together. Compare the bundled price with the best separate prices; the bundle is not always cheapest.

Ready? Start an auto quote or a home quote. Each takes a few minutes.
